It was a warm September evening in 1965 when Pedrito was born. All the neighbors in Union de Tula, his hometown, gathered in the living room of Don Pedro and Doña Lupita's home to congratulate the proud parents of such a beautiful baby. Pedrito was all smiles and deep inside, his mother knew that her child was a very special child.
Pedrito's life was filled with love. He would spend hours and hours after school with Doña Lupe in the kitchen. He was amazed by the mixture of aromas and colors that would come out of everything his mother prepared. She always told Pedrito: "The secret of a good meal is the love and happiness you put into it while you cook it". Not to mention, of course, the rich mixture of original spices that she would find in Tula's farmers market.
Pedrito was amazing in the kitchen, he prepared the best tacos, burritos and enchiladas. Every traditional Mexican dish had a special taste when prepared by Pedrito. He would often say: "I learned the secret from my mama". People would come from all over to eat at his home and his fame grew and grew throughout the region.
During the summer of '82 Pedrito and a group of friends traveled to Puerto Vallarta for their vacation. It was there that Pedrito met Anna, the American girl that would steal his heart. They spent most of that summer together, until Anna had to go back to her home in a city called Charlotte.

Pedrito was heartbroken; he knew that Anna was his true love and felt that he could not live without her.
Pedrito couldn't cook anymore. His dishes were terrible and no one understood what was happening. No one except for Doña Lupe, his mother. She knew Pedrito's heart was broken and she suffered with his son's pain. Don Pedro was also concerned and saddened to see his son in such misery. They knew that the only way they would see Pedrito happy again was to let him go and search for Anna, the love of his life. That would be the only way Pedrito would awe the world with his cooking, again.
